Mady's Foodcapades: The Islamabad Edition-I

11:55:00

I'm back from Islamabad (bhaaaaaaa, take me back!!) after a short yet super memorable trip filled with babies, BFFs and of course lots and lots of FOOD!

This picture is taken from The Nutella Spot's Facebook Page.

Anyone who knows me, knows what food means to me.  I've been trying to update my Instagram with the backlog of food pictures and it hit me that I should share my best culinary experiences in Islamabad with you all.

Lots of new places have opened up in the last one year and the Islamabad food scene is becoming extremely cool shool. I was actually very impressed.

Without further ado, here's a list of all the places that I checked out on this trip (along with a billion home deliveries from Mc Donalds, because NOTHING beats the Mc Crispy Deluxe):

Breakfast and Desserts
(This list is in no particular order, FYI)

1. Nutella Spot

Heaven for Nutella lovers, this place opened up almost one year ago and they have a variety of yummy chocolate desserts to offer. I had their Waffle with Nutella and Strawberries...

Pricing: approximately 500 rs per person
Ambiance: seating area is restricted and can get crowded quickly
Food Quality: 4.5/5
Check them out here.

2. Burning Brownie

I went here like thrice (!!). They've just opened up in F-11 after everyone's favourite hangout in Beverley Centre was doing a fantabulous job! Burning Brownie has the BEST desserts and their breakfast is pretty good also. They've added a touch of uniqueness with their Caramel Crunch French Toast!

Pricing: depending on what you order but roughly 800-1000 RS per person
Ambiance: it gets very loud sometimes because this place is always flooded, but they've done the place up wonderfully!
Food Quality: 4.5/5
Check them out here.

3. Street 1 Cafe

The Hit Me Cake. And the Eggs Benedict. Enough Said.

Pricing: around 800 Rs per person
Ambiance: Crowded mostly but pleasant
Food Quality: 5/5
Check them out here.

4. Guilty Pleasures

Roll-up Icecreams have made their way to Isloo. It's worth the experience but it's not something that would make me go again and again.

Pricing: around 500rs per head
Ambiance: A take away booth of some sort in Centaurus
Food Quality: 3/5
Check them out here

5. Funky Bake

Deserves a special mention since the cake I got made from them this time around was a major hit (Chocolate Truffle flavour). My friends and I have almost always chosen Funky Bake for customized cakes and although they're pricey, the designs are almost always perfect!

Pricing: varies per design, this one cost 1500 per pound for three pounds.
Food Quality: 5/5
Check them out here

6. Chaaye Khana

Okay so Chaaye Khana regulars might kill me for saying this but I usually opt not to go there since it's so over crowded and often pricier than the value. However, this time, I gave in and accompanied my BFFs. Suffices to say that I am glad because I had an AMAZING breakfast!! The Garlic Mushroom toast and the Savoury Crepes were too good!

Pricing: approximately 700Rs per person
Ambiance: Crowded but often pleasant
Food Quality: 4/5
Check them out here

7. #Social

Their unique serving of the Molten Lava Cake as well as the Mint Lemonade sets them apart. Let's not forget the freak shakes! Wish I could go back for moreeee..

Pricing: approximately 1000Rs per person
Ambience: Pretty cool
Food Quality: 4/5

8. Nirvana

The Cheesecake....

Ambiance: very very classy
Food Quality: 5/5

Stay tuned for the next installment of my foodcapades in Islamabad!
